Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presents a Rs 1 lakh crore budget, focusing on infrastructure, women’s safety, trader welfare, and the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented a Rs 1 lakh crore budget for 2025-26, describing it as a visionary plan for the capital’s development. In her first budget presentation, Gupta criticized the previous Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government, accusing them of neglecting Delhi’s infrastructure and failing to deliver on promises, such as transforming Delhi into a global city. She highlighted that Delhi’s budget has increased by 31.5% from the previous year, with capital expenditure rising from Rs 15,000 crore to Rs 28,000 crore.
Gupta allocated Rs 5,100 crore for the Mahila Samruddhi Scheme and Rs 2,144 crore for the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which the previous government failed to implement. She also announced plans to support traders and create a roadmap to make Delhi a start-up hub under the PM’s Make in India scheme. The budget includes a single-window system for businesses, redevelopment of industrial areas, and plans for a global investment summit. Gupta also emphasized improvements in roads, flyovers, and women’s safety with CCTV installations.
