In the Classroom Construction Case, Delhi ACB has summoned AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain over alleged corruption in school infrastructure projec
Delhi's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has summoned senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain for questioning in a ₹2,000 crore corruption probe linked to the construction of classrooms in government schools. Sisodia, who held the education and finance portfolios, is scheduled to appear on June 9, while Jain, who handled the public works department, has been called on June 6. The action follows a First Information Report (FIR) registered by the ACB on April 30, after alleged financial irregularities were flagged by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
The CVC’s Chief Technical Examiner had earlier highlighted multiple discrepancies in the execution and costing of more than 12,000 classrooms built across Delhi. According to officials, the estimated cost per classroom was around ₹5 lakh, yet the actual expenditure reportedly surged to ₹24.86 lakh per unit. BJP leaders had raised concerns as early as 2019, demanding accountability. The ACB initiated the investigation after obtaining necessary permissions under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The delay in acting on the CVC report — allegedly left unaddressed for nearly three years — has become a key point in the inquiry.
The Aam Aadmi Party has denied all allegations, calling the probe a politically motivated move orchestrated by the BJP to malign its leaders. “There is no scam. This is pure politics. BJP is using institutions to distract from governance failures,” the party stated. While BJP has not issued a formal reply yet, the political temperature in Delhi continues to rise as the case gains public attention. Further action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
