Chaos in Bengal Assembly as Mamata Accuses BJP

On 4 September 2025, there was a sudden turmoil in the West Bengal Assembly, when the session completely turned into chaos. The dispute began with the government proposal in which he was accused of misbehavior with Bengali migrants. During this hot debate, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a sharp charge against the BJP of spreading "linguistic terror" against the Bengali speaking people, which further instigated the sensitive atmosphere in the tense assembly.

Anger erupted rapidly. BJP MLAs started shouting and shouting slogans, blocking the Chief Minister's speech. Marshalls then intervened and removed the MLAs who expressed disagreement, resulting in many BJP MLAs physically pulled out and suspended from the session. The sight of BJP’s chief whip being forcefully evicted added drama and tension, with slogans of “vote chor” echoing through the chamber and further deepening political rancor.

The episode underscores the growing political chasm in the state. With elections around the corner, language and identity continue to shape discourse. Mamata's sharp rhetoric, combined with BJP's fierce resistance, turned a routine session into a spectacle of raw emotions and political theatrics.

In the end, attempts at restoring calm were initiated, but the damage had been done the assembly’s decorum disrupted, and the fissures laid bare. What was meant to be a debate on migrant dignity morphed into an intense display of politics and provocation raising questions about the future dynamics of governance and public trust in Bengal.
