Despite a ceasefire agreement, Pakistan violated the truce hours later with drone intrusions. India responded strongly, maintaining high vigilance along the Int
The night remained "largely peaceful" across Jammu and Kashmir and along the International Border, the Indian Army reported this morning, marking the first calm night in recent days after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire.
The ceasefire followed four days of intense fighting between the two countries, which had been sparked by a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, last month. India and Pakistan reached an agreement to cease all military actions on land, air, and sea starting at 5 pm on Saturday.
However, hours after the ceasefire agreement, drones were spotted and intercepted in various locations across Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, as well as parts of Gujarat.
In response, India held a late-night briefing, stating that Pakistan had violated the ceasefire. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri condemned the breach and emphasized that India’s armed forces were taking "appropriate" action. He urged Pakistan to address the violations seriously and with responsibility. Misri also confirmed that Indian forces were on high alert and prepared to respond strongly to any further violations along the International Border and Line of Control.
The escalation followed a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which left 26 people dead. India, after uncovering cross-border links to the attack, launched "Operation Sindoor" on May 7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
