Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a two-day workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emerging Technologies, marking a new era in governance. Speaking at the Secretariat, Naidu emphasized the need to combine cutting-edge AI with a human touch to create responsive and inclusive governance. He called for the appointment of an "AI Champion" in every government department to lead digital transformation and stated that technology must solve real-world problems.
Reflecting on the state’s digital journey, Naidu highlighted the shift from 2 Mbps internet to envisioning data-driven governance, with plans to create a state-run Data Lake for unified government data. He stressed the importance of AI applications across sectors like agriculture and law enforcement, pointing out that AI should be applied to land dispute resolution, a significant governance challenge.
Naidu also called for reforming outdated bureaucratic systems to enable innovation and outlined ambitious targets, including 15% economic growth and improved infrastructure by 2028. The workshop, organized with the Wadhwani Centre, aims to equip officials with AI knowledge to drive citizen-centric, AI-powered governance in the state.
