Sidhu recalls young Shah Rukh Khan’s bold Bollywood dreams and how he confidently said, “Sidhu saab, I will manage.”
Ages ago Shah Rukh Khan became the King of Bollywood, he was just a young man with big visions and steady confidence. Back in the late '80s, he was already winning hearts with his roles in TV shows like Fauji and Circus. But even as the “Fauji guy,” Shah Rukh knew that his journey wouldn’t stop there he was aiming higher, much higher.
Recently, cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu shared a heartwarming and inspiring memory about a young SRK. During a cricket match in Lucknow, a spellbound Shah Rukh approached Sidhu and said, “Sir, I’m a big fan of yours.” Sidhu, pleasantly surprised, replied that he watched Fauji and Circus every day just to see him. Even cricket legend Kapil Dev, who was nearby, asked who the young man was. Sidhu told him confidently, “He’s the next star.”
Queer about Shah Rukh’s plans, Sidhu asked what he was planning to do next. Shah Rukh smiled and said, “Sir, I’m going to Mumbai. I want to join Bollywood.” Sidhu, concerned, asked him if he had thought it through. “Teri mat maari gayi hai? (Have you lost your mind?)” he joked. Sidhu reminded him that Mumbai is tough, and with no family or support, it would be even harder.
But Shah Rukh didn’t shrink. Without a trace of fear, he simply said, “Sidhu saab, I will head.”
That moment captured the aspect of Shah Rukh Khan a young man who believed in himself, no matter what the world said. And as we all know now, he not only managed, but went on to rule the hearts of millions across the globe.
