Former Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta has once again stirred controversy, sharing a distressing experience on the set of Vivek Agnihotri's 2005 film Chocolate. In a recent Instagram video, Tanushree emotionally recalled how, between takes, she was denied permission to wear a robe and made to remain in a short skirt before the entire crew.

She explained not just the costume discomfort, but also the uneasy atmosphere it created:

“She alleged that she was forced to remain in revealing clothes on set even when she was not actively shooting, despite asking to wear a robe”.

This incident adds to Tanushree’s history as an early voice for on-set dignity. She first brought attention to misconduct in Bollywood with her 2018 revelations against Nana Patekar, which ignited India’s #MeToo movement.

Director Vivek Agnihotri has since responded to her claims. In a June 2025 statement, he attributed the incident to his own “frustration,” calling her allegations unprofessional. However, Tanushree hasn’t publicly reacted to his explanation.

His recent testimony exposes the old era thinking in which female artists were often taken lightly. What was postponed only by saying "annoyance" in 2005, it is now seen as a lack of unacceptable pressure and respect.

The conversation on platforms like Tiktok and Instagram has further strengthened his perspective, which shows how much sympathy, accountability and commercial reforms are needed in the film industry. As the Bollywood is developing thinking about accountability on the set, Tanushree's point resonates-there should be no compromise, whether in front of the camera or during the break.
