Salman Khan’s film Sikandar has resurfaced in public discussion following its recent Netflix premiere, reigniting criticism similar to when it was first released. Despite its availability on Netflix from Sunday, May 25, viewers continue to mock the film for its weak storyline and poor acting.

Fans and critics alike took to social media to express their disappointment, with many questioning why the film was made and criticizing Salman Khan’s choice to star in it. Comments ranged from viewers struggling to watch even a few minutes to those calling for Salman to consider retiring from acting due to the film’s quality.

Some critics highlighted the film’s direction as the main flaw, despite praising Salman’s and others’ performances. One viewer suggested that the film’s South Indian director’s style didn’t resonate well with the audience. Others compared Sikandar unfavorably to Salman’s past works and called it a “horror comedy” or likened it to a badly dubbed South Indian flop.

However, a few fans defended the movie, arguing that it was better than some other recent releases and still watchable despite its flaws and illogical twists.

About the film, Sikandar follows Sanjay Rajkot, who challenges a corrupt politician, disrupting his life. Directed by AR Murugadoss, it stars Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, and Sathyaraj. This marked Salman’s first theatrical release since 2023 and his first Eid release in two years. Despite mixed reviews and being seen as underwhelming by Salman’s box office standards, the film earned over ₹200 crore worldwide.

A review from Hindustan Times noted Salman’s commanding presence in action scenes but criticized Murugadoss’ below-average direction, which undermined Salman’s performance. Rashmika’s dialogue delivery was also seen as unconvincing, with her character’s few redeeming moments limited. The review also slammed the poorly lip-synced rendition of the classic song “Lag Jaa Gale,” calling it a disappointment.
