Bollywood’s former beauty queen Sangeeta Bijlani faced a distressing homecoming when she visited her farmhouse near Pawna Dam, Pune, after four months and found it vandalised and burgled. The once peaceful retreat had become a scene of ruin, with beds destroyed, the refrigerator broken, and CCTV cameras either stolen or deliberately damaged.

According to Bijlani, the intruders forced entry by breaking windows and door grills. They smashed a television set while stealing another, and took cash (about ₹50,000) and a TV valued around ₹7,000 bringing total losses to roughly ₹57,000. Upon discovering the crime on July 18, she filed a formal complaint with the Lonavala Rural Police.

Lonavala Rural Police officials have started investigation, property has been inspected and evidence has been collected. A team under the leadership of senior inspector Dinesh Tayde is surveying broken goods, investigating the surrounding CCTV footage and registering complete information about the damage so that a case can be officially registered.

The incident of this theft has shaken the local community. Residents fear that such incidents may happen again if security remains loose. For Bijalani, who had not come there for a long time due to his father's health, this discovery has been shocking and disturbing. Their peaceful hideout had now turned into a crime site, and the tour that should have been relaxed became a painful experience.

While the police are still looking for clues’ statements of fingerprints, footprints and potential eyewitnesses are being collected this incident raises big questions about the safety of rural areas. Until the culprits are punished, Bijlani's farmhouse will continue to remind how fast the crime can destroy peace.
