Romance Drama Surpasses Expectations At Box Office

The romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, has risen above expectations with its box office performance. Despite releasing alongside a much larger film and having a relatively modest budget (around rs 25 crore) the film has already broken the rs 30 crore mark in just five days. 

According to trade trackers, Day 1 earned approximately rs 9 crore, Day 2 around rs 7.75 crore, Day 3 rs 6 crore, Day 4 rs 5.5 crore, and Day 5 a healthy rs 5.75 crore cumulatively about rs 34 crore in five days. 

On Day 6, the film added roughly rs 6.75 crore to reach over rs 41 crore at the end of its first week impressive given that it was competing with the bigger release Thamma. 

Many trade analysts are calling it a surprise hit. They point out that for a mid-budget romance to deliver such numbers amid a festive release window is no small feat especially when screen share and marketing budget were lower than those of its competition. 

Yet, the film is not without its critiques. Some voices have raised concerns about the story’s themes, calling them somewhat regressive or formulaic suggesting that while the film has found commercial success, its narrative may not break new ground. 

From a business perspective, this performance offers a ray of hope for mid-scale Hindi cinema: films with modest budgets, clear genre positioning, and strong word of mouth can thrive even in crowded release windows. For Harshvardhan Rane, in particular, this looks like a career milestone.

Audience responses highlight the film’s chemistry between the leads and its classic romantic beats as key reasons for its connect. While it may not set the world alight with originality, it seems to have delivered on what its target audience wanted: a feel good, emotionally charged love story.

Overall, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’s performance so far suggests that the “festive release” window still holds power especially for film-makers who align story tone, target audience and release timing smartly. It will be interesting to see how the film sustains in the coming weeks.
