Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav is currently facing legal and financial troubles linked to a long-standing cheque bounce case connected with his 2012 film Ata Pata Laapata. Amid growing public discussion around the issue, his longtime friend and co-actor Padam Singh has openly come forward in his defence.
The dispute reportedly began after loans taken during the production of the film could not be repaid on schedule. When several cheques issued for repayment were returned unpaid, legal proceedings followed. The matter eventually escalated, leading to court involvement and significant pressure on the actor.
At one point, the situation resulted in his custody in Tihar Jail, which brought the case back into headlines. Many fans were shocked to see a well-known comic actor caught in such serious circumstances.
Padam Singh, however, insists that Rajpal’s intentions were absolutely clean. In interviews, he explained that the financial trouble was not because of dishonesty, but because the film did not perform well commercially and debts gradually increased. According to him, Rajpal invested emotionally and financially in the project, believing strongly in its creative vision.
Singh said that Rajpal has always been someone who supports others and respects commitments. He added that given a little time and understanding, the actor will repay every single rupee owed. His words have created mixed reactions, with some people expressing sympathy while others emphasising legal accountability.
The situation reflects how film production can sometimes become financially risky, especially when expectations and box office realities do not match. Creative passion does not always guarantee commercial success, and sometimes consequences become heavy.
As the case continues, many within the industry are quietly watching. Whether this chapter ends with full repayment and closure remains to be seen, but for now, Rajpal Yadav’s journey serves as a reminder that even familiar faces on screen can face very real struggles behind the scenes.
