Actor Preity Zinta has expressed frustration over doctored images circulating online that falsely depict her hugging 14-year-old Rajasthan Royals cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Taking to social media, she slammed the edited content and said she was shocked that even news outlets were promoting the fake visuals.
Preity Zinta responds to fake image claims:
The controversy erupted after videos and photos surfaced on social media showing Preity interacting with Vaibhav during a recent IPL match in Jaipur. In one clip, shared by the Rajasthan Royals' official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Punjab Kings co-owner is seen greeting and chatting with various players, including Vaibhav. However, contrary to the viral claims, no hug is shown in the original footage.
Addressing the misleading images, Preity reposted a news article that had included one such morphed photo and captioned it: “This is a morphed image and fake news. Am so surprised now news channels are also using morphed images and featuring them as news items.” She also shared another link to a regional outlet carrying the same clip, calling it out as “fake news with morphed image.”
About the video:
The actual video begins with Preity speaking with Yashasvi Jaiswal before she turns to Shashank Singh and mentions wanting to meet Vaibhav. She then greets the teenager and has a short conversation, ending with a handshake. The post by Rajasthan Royals included the song "Koi Mil Gaya" in the background for added charm.
Preity’s upcoming film:
Currently, Preity Zinta is preparing for her return to cinema after seven years. She last appeared in Bhaiaji Superhit (2018). Her comeback film, Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, features Sunny Deol in the lead along with Shabana Azmi and Ali Fazal.
