Malayalam film and television actor Vishnu Prasad passed away early Friday at a private hospital in Kochi. He was 49. Reports indicate he had been receiving treatment for liver-related ailments over the past few months and was in need of a liver transplant.

Actor Kishor Satya, a close colleague, confirmed the news on social media. Expressing his grief, he extended condolences to Vishnu Prasad’s family and spoke of his prolonged health struggles. In his heartfelt post written in Malayalam, Kishor shared that Vishnu had been battling illness for some time and prayed for strength for his family to cope with the loss.

Efforts were underway to arrange funds for Vishnu’s transplant, with his family and the Association of Malayalam Television Artists seeking to raise ₹30 lakh. His daughter had reportedly agreed to donate part of her liver, but financial constraints made the procedure difficult.

Vishnu Prasad is survived by his wife and two daughters, Abhirami and Ananika. He gained recognition for playing antagonist roles in both films and TV serials. His notable film credits include Kasi, Kaiyethum Doorath, Mambazhakkalam, Ben Johnson, Lokanathan IAS, and Lion, among others.
