Singer Kenishaa Francis responds to online harassment over her relationship with Jayam Ravi, as the actor's divorce from Aarti Ravi unfolds in court. A look at
As actor Ravi Mohan, better known by his stage name Jayam Ravi, goes through divorce proceedings with his wife of 15 years, Aarti Ravi, singer Kenishaa Francis—his current partner—has found herself at the center of intense public scrutiny. In the past week, Kenishaa has taken to Instagram to reveal the wave of online abuse and death threats she has been receiving. Much of the backlash stems from speculation that her relationship with Ravi may have contributed to his 2024 decision to end his marriage.
Kenishaa’s Firm Stand Against Harassment
Kenishaa responded defiantly through multiple Instagram stories, refusing to stay silent or disable comments. “I’m not turning off my comments or running away. I have nothing to hide from nobody,” she declared. Directly addressing those accusing her of breaking up the marriage, she said, “Please take me to court if you’re confident I’m even a catalyst in this. I beg you—take me to court!”
She also urged critics to consider the emotional toll of their hostility. “I understand that most of you don’t know my truth and pain... I’m sorry your assumptions are hurting you,” she wrote, stressing that she is open to legal consequences if proven wrong, but until then, asked to be allowed to “breathe without hatred.”
Toxic Online Reactions
Kenishaa shared screenshots of hateful and threatening messages, with one commenter questioning her morals and upbringing. She responded by condemning the cruelty of such remarks and reiterated her willingness to be held legally accountable. On the subject of karma, she wrote, “You speak of karma to hurt me. But when the truth comes out—legally and legitimately—I won’t wish that same pain upon you.”
Allegations and Legal Proceedings
The situation escalated after Aarti Ravi implied that an unnamed “third person” played a role in the breakdown of her marriage. While she didn’t directly name Kenishaa, her statement came shortly after Ravi was seen publicly with the singer at a high-profile wedding in Chennai.
Ravi and Aarti, married since 2009, share two sons. In 2024, Ravi announced the separation, describing it as a thoughtful decision made for personal reasons. Around the same time, he reverted to using his birth name, Ravi Mohan. Aarti, however, contested his version of events, claiming she had not consented to the divorce. On May 21, both filed separate petitions in Family Court—Ravi affirming his wish to end the marriage, and Aarti requesting ₹40 lakh in monthly alimony. The court has asked them to reconsider and will take up the case again on June 12.
While neither Ravi nor Aarti have publicly addressed Kenishaa’s statements, the controversy has dominated online discussions and social media platforms.
