Hera Pheri 3: The Breakthrough is Here, But Paresh Rawal Might Not Return as Babu Bhaiya
The popular Indian comedy franchise Hera Pheri is coming back in its third installment. A long awaited sequel, the confirmation of Hera Pheri 3 was greeted with joy on the part of the fans. The 2000 original and the 2006 sequel gained cult following, with the iconic trio of Akshay Kumar as Raju, Sunil Shetty as Shyam, and Paresh Rawal as the witty Babu Bhaiya.
But recent developments have set off mixed feelings among the fans. Even veteran actor Paresh Rawal is said to have refused to reappear in the sequel to his iconic role. Although the audiences have always cherished Babu Bhaiya's comedic timing and eccentric dialogues, Rawal feels the time has come to leave the role.
In a few interviews, the actor has mentioned that he no longer derives creative pleasure by playing the same character over and over. "Being an artist, I wish to play different roles and not restrict my work to one comedic stereotype," he explained. Acting to him is not only all about entertaining people it is also about pushing oneself and learning through different characters.
This came as a letdown to many fans, who count Babu Bhaiya as the soul of Hera Pheri. Paresh Rawal's take, however, touches on a significant debate in the entertainment world: ought actors to feel compelled to reprise roles merely for the sake of popularity?
As Hera Pheri 3 is ready for release, questions remain about how the series will handle this change. Will Babu Bhaiya undergo a recasting? The plot will alter, will it?
Supporters continue to aspire for a satisfying third installment and perhaps even an unexpected cameo from none other than Babu Bhaiya.
