Diljit Dosanjh’s latest film, "Sardaar Ji 3" will bypass theatrical release in India. The horror-comedy, which stars Pakistani actor Hania Aamir alongside Diljit and Neeru Bajwa, is set to release overseas on June 27. The decision follows a renewed ban in India on collaboration with Pakistani actors, triggered by the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. Diljit announced the film's release through his social media, confirming it will only be available to audiences outside India. The trailer, geo-blocked in India, is still accessible overseas.

The film’s cast, which includes several Pakistani performers such as Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela, has drawn criticism from Indian film bodies. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has officially opposed the film's certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), citing recent directives from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting prohibiting cross-border artistic collaborations. FWICE President Prasoon Joshi emphasized that national interest should take precedence and urged the CBFC to deny the film a certificate, aligning with the government's stand.
Sardaar Ji 3 is a horror-comedy satire about ghostbusting, where Diljit and Hania team up to expel a spirit from a haunted mansion in the UK. Despite high anticipation from fans, the film has become the second major project, after Abir Gulaal featuring Fawad Khan, to face restrictions due to its Pakistani cast. While the teaser and songs are still viewable in India, the full trailer has been restricted, and the film will remain unavailable in Indian cinemas. The controversy underscores ongoing diplomatic sensitivities affecting cultural exchange between the two nations.
