Diljit Dosanjh may be replaced in Border 2 following controversy over his latest film Sardaar Ji 3. Sources say Ammy Virk is being considered as his likely repl
Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh is reportedly being considered for removal from the upcoming war drama Border 2, due to growing backlash over his involvement in Sardaar Ji 3. The controversy stems from the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the Punjabi film, which has triggered strong reactions on social media. Amid the rising tensions, sources close to the production revealed that the makers feel Dosanjh’s presence may not align with the patriotic theme of Border 2, which centres around the Indian Army.
According to insiders, actor Ammy Virk is being lined up to replace Dosanjh in the film. A portion of the movie featuring Dosanjh has already been shot, and the team may now opt to reshoot those scenes with Virk. While the production house and producer Nidhi Dutta have not officially commented, industry sources suggest that distancing the film from controversy is now a priority. “They want the focus to remain on the film’s nationalistic sentiment and avoid any negative publicity during promotions,” said a source familiar with the situation.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had earlier urged the producers not to continue working with Diljit, stating that retaining him could be seen as supporting the casting decision in Sardaar Ji 3. Meanwhile, Dosanjh had recently shared a video from the sets of Border 2, receiving a warm welcome, which now adds a twist to the unfolding situation. Slated for a Republic Day weekend release on January 23, Border 2 is the sequel to the iconic 1997 film and stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty in key roles.
