Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has launched the ‘Padukone School of Badminton’ (PSB) in honor of her father, Prakash Padukone, on his 70th birthday. The initiative aims to make badminton accessible and affordable to people across India, promoting the sport’s physical and mental benefits. Deepika, who has a personal connection with badminton, shared her vision to inspire a healthier and more disciplined generation through PSB, emphasizing the sport’s role in shaping life beyond the court.

Prakash Padukone, former World No. 1 and All-England Champion, has taken on the role of mentor and advisor for PSB. He highlighted the importance of discipline, resilience, and a winning mindset, qualities that sports instill in players from an early age. The school plans to expand rapidly, targeting 250 centers by 2027, and has already set up more than 75 grassroots coaching hubs in cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Pune. PSB aims to nurture talent by providing structured coaching and state-of-the-art facilities to players of all ages and skill levels.

PSB’s mission is to democratize badminton coaching in India through a certified coaching program with over 100 trained coaches, ensuring quality and consistency. Deepika described the school as her contribution toward building a sports-friendly and healthier nation. With the combined legacy of her father’s badminton excellence and her passion for the sport, PSB hopes to inspire widespread participation and lay a solid foundation for the future of Indian badminton.
