Financial Year 2025 marked a period of major transformation for both Wipro and the global landscape, said Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji at the company’s 78th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday (July 16, 2025). He noted that markets became increasingly dynamic and unpredictable, with rapid advancements in technologies like Artificial Intelligence — particularly Generative and Agentic AI — emerging as powerful disruptors.

Despite these challenges, Premji said the evolving environment had prompted Wipro to reimagine its operations, uncover new growth avenues, and enhance the value delivered to clients. “Throughout this period, we remained focused on our clients, executed with discipline, and made bold strategic investments that are now defining Wipro’s future,” he said.

Discussing the broader market outlook, Premji acknowledged that uncertainty may persist. However, he emphasized that enduring businesses are often built in such uncertain times.

“We’ve used this phase to strengthen our talent base, deepen client partnerships, and remain grounded in our purpose. Wipro’s legacy, built over eight decades, has always prioritized long-term vision over short-term gains — anchored in values of reinvention, stewardship, and ethical business. We continue this legacy with focus, humility, and determination,” he added.

FY25 Performance and Shareholder Returns

Premji reported that Wipro recorded $10.5 billion in revenue in FY25 — a 2.3% year-over-year decline in constant currency. However, net income rose sharply to ₹131.4 billion, an 18.9% increase. Operating margins for IT services improved by 0.9% to reach 17.1%, and earnings per share grew 20.3% to ₹12.6. Operating cash flow was strong at nearly $2 billion, amounting to 128% of net income.

He also announced that from FY26, Wipro plans to return at least 70% of its net income to shareholders cumulatively over three years. A one-to-one bonus issue is planned in Q2, along with an interim dividend of ₹6 per share in Q3 — reflecting Wipro’s commitment to rewarding shareholders.

Looking Ahead: Innovation and AI-Driven Growth

Premji highlighted that Wipro will celebrate its 80th anniversary this December, with nearly five decades spent in the technology industry. Its innovation strategy is spearheaded by the Wipro Innovation Network — a global ecosystem that unites innovation labs, Wipro Ventures, cloud studios, partner labs, and the Topcoder community. “This integrated network allows us to accelerate co-creation and deliver next-gen solutions at scale,” he said.

Wipro Ventures, launched in 2015, has committed $500 million to support promising startups building enterprise software and AI-driven solutions.

These partnerships not only help startups scale but also bring strategic value to Wipro’s clients, he added.

Stronger Focus on Employee Well-Being and Inclusion

Premji emphasized that employee wellness received special focus this year. He reiterated that inclusion remains central to Wipro’s hiring and development philosophy. Currently, 37% of the workforce comprises women, and 37% are from Gen Z. Wipro is nurturing a diverse,
multigenerational workforce that respects differences in gender, ethnicity, orientation, and ability.

“This year, we’ve increased our focus on mental and physical well-being, offering personalized support that helps employees flourish both professionally and personally. Our flexible framework promotes self-care and work-life balance — ensuring every associate feels seen, supported, and empowered,” he said.

Agentic AI Driving Internal Transformation

Premji shared how Agentic AI is already delivering measurable results within Wipro’s internal systems — streamlining operations in HR, finance, legal, and beyond. For instance, Wipro’s medical claims system now processes over 10,000 claims each month without any manual intervention. This level of automation significantly boosts both efficiency and service quality, setting a new standard for internal performance.
