Vijayapura SBI Heist Robbers Abandon Rs 41L Cash and 6.5kg Gold in Maharashtra

After a robbery in Vijayapura, Karnataka, robbers abandoned part of the loot in Maharashtra.

In a significant development in the Vijayapura SBI heist case, Karnataka police has recovered a portion of the stolen valuables. The robbers, who had fled to Maharashtra following the heist, abandonded part of their loot after a confrontation with villagers in Hulajanti village, Solapur district. The recovered items includes 6.5 kilograms of gold jewelry and Rs 41 lakh in cash.

The robbery occured on September 16, 2025, at the State Bank of India's Chadchan branch in Vijayapura. Three armed men in military fatigue stormed into the bank, tied up five staff members and four customers, and fled with nearly 20 kilograms of gold and Rs 1.4 crore in cash. The robbers used a stolen car with fake number plate for their getaway.

Following the incident, the police traced the vehicle to Mangalwede village and conducted a search operation. In the course of operation, they found a bag containing 21 packets of gold jewelry and Rs 1.03 lakh in cash. The police are continuing their investigation and is working closely with Solapur police to track down the remaining culprits and recover the rest of stolen assets.
