Mahindra And Mahindra Ltd, one of India’s leading automobile makers, has announce a major upgrade to its best selling Thar SUV, marking big milestone for the brand after achieving 3 lakh units sales in just five years. The Thar, which become a flagship product for Mahindra, counts for nearly one fifth of company’s SUV sales in this period, making it important role in making Mahindra India’s largest SUV manufacturer by revenue.

The updated Thar comes with many aesthetic and functional changes aimed to improve both comfort and performance. Outside, the SUV now has new front grille with dual-tone bumper, and stylish R18 alloy wheels. The interior also got modern changes, including all-black dashboard, new steering wheel, and redesigned center console with sliding armrest and rear AC vents. Mahindra also integrate a 26.03 cm touchscreen supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, making connectivity better for drivers and passengers.

Other improvements include door-mounted power windows, internally opened fuel lid, rear windscreen wiper, and rear-view camera, showing Mahindra’s effort to combine practicality and style. Company also added two new color options: ‘Tango Red’ and ‘Battleship Grey,’ for different customer tastes.

For performance, Thar continues offer multiple engine options. Petrol 2.0 mStallion engine gives 150 BHP with 300 Nm torque, 2.2 mHawk diesel gives 130 BHP with 300 Nm torque, and D117 CRDe diesel engine gives 117 BHP with 300 Nm torque. Engines paired with manual or automatic transmissions, and both 2WD and 4WD options, helping Thar do both city and off-road drives.

Starting price of upgraded Thar is ₹9.99 lakh, with higher variants price depend on engine, drivetrain and features. According Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra automotive division, company stay committed to listen customer feedback and improve Thar for versatile and enjoyable driving in city and rough roads.

With these upgrades, Mahindra wants to make Thar stronger in Indian SUV market and give customer a car which combine adventure, comfort and modern technology in one package.
