On Friday, the Indian government confirmed its awareness of China establishing two new counties in the Hotan prefecture, which include parts of Indian territory in Ladakh. Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, stated that India has never accepted China's illegal occupation of the region and emphasized that the creation of these countries will not affect India’s long-standing stance on sovereignty over the area. India has lodged a "solemn" protest through diplomatic channels.
In response to a question in Lok Sabha, the minister confirmed that India is aware of China's announcement regarding the new countries. He assured that the government continues to focus on developing infrastructure in border areas to support both economic growth and strategic security needs. The minister reiterated that the government remains vigilant about any developments impacting India’s security and takes necessary steps to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
