US F-35 Fighter Jet Missing in South Carolina Amid Mid-Flight Emergency

US Marine Corps F-35 fighter jet has gone missing in South Carolina after a mid-flight emergency. While the pilot managed to eject safely, the multimillion-dollar aircraft’s whereabouts remain unknown, prompting a plea from US military officials for public assistance in locating it.

The mishap occurred over North Charleston on a Sunday afternoon, when a Marine Corps pilot was forced to eject from the F-35 Lightning II jet due to an unforeseen issue. In response, authorities from Joint Base Charleston initiated a search operation in cooperation with federal aviation regulators. The search area encompasses the vicinity of two lakes north of Charleston.

Joint Base Charleston has reached out to local residents for support in locating the missing fighter jet. They have requested anyone with information regarding the F-35’s whereabouts to contact the Base Defense Operations Center.

The disappearance of an F-35 fighter jet, each valued at approximately $80 million and manufactured by Lockheed Martin, has raised questions and concerns. Local congresswoman Nancy Mace expressed astonishment on social media, questioning the absence of tracking devices on such advanced military aircraft. She also pondered the reliance on the public to assist in its retrieval.
