UK PM Rishi Sunak Celebrates Guru Nanak Jayanti, Honors Punjabi Heritage

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, in a heartfelt message on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, emphasized his Punjabi Indian heritage and acknowledged the significant contributions of British Sikhs to the United Kingdom. Born to a Hindu Punjabi family with roots in Ludhiana and pre-Partition Gujranwala, Sunak’s Gurpurab message expressed admiration for the Sikh community’s achievements and marked the 554th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth.

In extending his Gurpurab wishes, Rishi Sunak acknowledged the joyous occasion of celebrating Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth and recognized its special significance for him as an individual of Punjabi Indian heritage. He conveyed his appreciation for the Sikh community’s immense contribution to the UK, expressing pride and inspiration. The UK Prime Minister concluded his message with the traditional Sikh greeting, “Waheguru Ji Ki Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.”
