UGC Calls for Research Proposals to Advance India’s Bharat 6G Vision

The UGC has invited submissions from research institutes, universities, Indian startups, and corporations to promote research, development, and design of 6G technologies under Accelerated Research Lab. The goal of this initiative is to support innovation in 6G technologies in alignment with the Bharat 6G Vision.

In this regard, the ministry has also launched a portal https://www.bharat5glabs.gov.in to facilitate the dissemination of information on the matter.

On March 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled India’s “Bharat 6G Vision,” charting a path for India to lead in the design, development, and deployment of 6G technology by 2030. Built on the pillars of affordability, sustainability, and ubiquity, Bharat 6G envisions India as a key global contributor. The Department of Telecommunications invited proposals from academia, industry, and other bodies engaged in R&D.

Research focus areas include semantic communication; blockchain for Edge; generative adversarial networks; ubiquitous connectivity; urban micro-space; THz communication systems; immersive education; holistic security solutions; acoustic meta-learning; blockchain for infrastructure; genetic programming; framework for HC2WA; Six sense communication; fluid cells and antennas spectrum sensing and sharing network; quantum and QC assisted communications; augmentation of human and deep learning for communication; communications intelligence; internet of nano-things and bio-nano things; artificial neural networks for communication.
