The Supreme Court said that it would allow an office bearer in BCCI to hold office for two consecutive terms even if they were in office in a state association
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has shown the way for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly to extend his tenure. The apex court, in its ruling on Wednesday, 14 September, said that it would allow an office bearer in BCCI to hold office for two consecutive terms even if they were in office in a state association for one term.

This will essentially pave the way for president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah to continue their tenure at the institution that handles the functioning of cricket in India.
The BCCI had proposed an amendment that sought the abolition of a cooling-off period for its office bearers which would enable Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah to continue in office as President and Secretary despite them having completed six years at respective state cricket associations.
