Sony TV Takes on Fake News: Condemns Manipulated KBC Clips Involving Kamal Nath

Sony TV has vehemently denounced the circulation of manipulated videos related to its widely-watched show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). In a statement released on Instagram, Sony TV clarified that these videos presented a distorted version of the original content, featuring fabricated voiceovers of the show’s host and contestants.

The contentious video, posted on Thursday via X (formerly Twitter), showcased a fake voiceover of none other than the iconic Amitabh Bachchan, the host of KBC. In this manipulated clip, Amitabh read a question aloud in Hindi, quizzing contestants about the number of farmers whose loans were waived off by the Kamal Nath-led government in Madhya Pradesh in 2018. The alarming part? The video, in the conventional KBC format, displayed a troubling lack of synchronization between Amitabh’s words and his lip movements.

This incident, unfortunately, is not an isolated one. Sony TV has previously sounded the alarm on fabricated videos, and not long ago, another fake voiceover of Amitabh raised eyebrows by posing a defamatory question about Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The question in Hindi hinted at a derogatory nickname for Chouhan and, shockingly, the contestant’s choice was confirmed as correct by the manipulated voiceover.

Sony TV, in response to these incidents, is actively collaborating with the cybercrime cell to address the matter. The network strongly condemns the spread of misinformation and urges viewers to refrain from sharing unverified content.
