A day after making landfall, Remal weakened into a cyclonic storm on Monday morning and is now likely to move northeastwards and weaken further, the Met department has said.

The weather department has further predicted more rains in Kolkata and other cities along with the southern districts, including Nadia and Murshidabad.

Amidst the cyclone Remal, flights from the Kolkata airport have now restarted after being halted for around twenty-one hours.

According to a top official of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), SpiceJet’s aircraft from Guwahati landed in Kolkata first, arriving at 9.50 AM, while IndiGo’s flight from Kolkata to Port Blair was the first to depart on Monday at 8.59 AM.

Sources claim that while the process of starting flight operations again has started, it will likely take some more time for things to return to normal.
