Punjabi Singer Shubh Makes History as UN Global Climate Ambassador

Shubh, a Punjabi musician, is now making news for being designated the first-ever United Nations Global Brand Ambassador for Climate Advocacy (UNFCCC) for the UNFCCC Digital Climate Library. This announcement was made during the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29).

His nomination is a significant milestone, as he is the first Indian music artist to hold such a high advocacy position inside the UN system. The Still Rollin singer will collaborate with some of the world’s most well-known celebrities, such as Leonardo DiCaprio, BTS, Billie Eilish, and Prince Harry, all of whom have participated in UNFCCC climate change projects.

Shubh provides not just his music popularity, but also his massive global reach, with over 20 billion followers and over 5 billion song streams globally. His tremendous popularity will allow him to reach broad audiences and promote the importance of sustainable living through his platform.

Expressing his excitement for the appointment, Subh said, “Growing up in an environment of academicians, building a sustainable knowledge bank is critical. Through this role, I hope to use my platform to bring attention to the issue, share knowledge, and be part of a movement that pushes for a better future, not just for all of us, but for future generations as well. I hope our combined efforts create a positive impact in addressing global warming and fostering sustainable living for all species on our planet.”
