PM Modi Set to Inaugurate World’s Largest Office Building in Surat

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Surat Diamond Bourse,’ the world’s largest corporate office center.

The Surat Diamond Burse, built on 35.54 acres of land at a cost of 3400 crore, is poised to become a global center of raw and polished diamond trading.

The Diamond Bourse, which has over 4,500 networked offices, is the world’s largest interconnected building. The office complex is larger than the Pentagon and has the country’s largest customs clearing facility.

The structure can accommodate 4,200 dealers from 175 nations who would come to Surat to acquire polished diamonds. The trading facility would employ around 1.5 lakh people by providing diamond buyers from all over the world with a worldwide platform to trade at Surat.

Earlier in July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi replied to a media article on ‘X’ claiming that the Surat Diamond Exchange had surpassed the Pentagon as the world’s largest office structure for the previous 80 years.

Surat Diamond Bourse exemplifies the energy and expansion of the diamond business in Surat. It also demonstrates India’s entrepreneurial spirit. It will act as a hub for commerce, innovation, and collaboration, increasing our economy and creating jobs,” he said.

Here’s what we know about this enormous structure, which is larger than the Pentagon in the United States:

  1. The SDB building, the world’s largest office complex with over 67 lakh square feet of floor space, is located near Surat in Khajod village.
  2. The Surat Diamond Bourse was erected at a cost of 3400 crore on 35.54 acres of land. It is on track to become a global trade hub for raw and polished diamonds.
  3. It has over 4,500 linked workplaces and is the world’s largest interconnected building. The office complex is larger than the Pentagon and has the country’s largest customs clearing facility.
  4. The Surat Diamond Bourse can accommodate 4,200 dealers from 175 nations who would be visiting Surat to acquire polished diamonds.
  5. The trading facility would employ around 1.5 lakh people, since diamond purchasers from all over the world will have access to a global trading platform in Surat.
