NEP 2020 is a philosophical document..! says Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan chaired the Education Ministers’ Session at the 2nd Voice of Global South Summit in New Delhi, focusing on ‘Making human resources future-ready’.

Shri Pradhan emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in developing a resilient, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable education and skilling ecosystem, highlighting India’s pivotal role in leading discussions on these issues at the G20 Education Ministers Meeting. The G20 Leaders’ Declaration in New Delhi recognized the importance of investing in human capital development.

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which is being implemented under the direction of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is bringing about a comprehensive transformation of India’s learning and skilling landscape, according to Shri Pradhan, who briefed the participating Ministers.

He also stated that the NEP, as a philosophical document, can serve as a model for developing comprehensive strategies and agile policies in emerging economies. Shri Pradhan emphasized the importance of shared aspirations and called for common strategies that leverage the twin pillars of education and skill development.

The Education Ministers from participating countries have agreed to work together for an accessible, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable future through quality education. They stressed the importance of investing in human capital development and addressing the global skill divide.

They agreed to provide skilling, reskilling, and upskilling opportunities to create a future-ready workforce.

They also committed to overcoming the digital divide by addressing technological infrastructure barriers and developing technology ecosystems and learning resources in local languages. They emphasized the role of teachers and education staff in promoting education and fostering an environment for their professional growth through capacity building and exchange programs.

The Ministers agreed to encourage collaborative solutions, innovations, sharing of best practices, academic collaborations, and student and faculty exchange programs.

India’s Prime Minister, Shri Pradhan, expressed confidence in the South-South cooperation and pledged to work together for global well-being, an equitable world order, and a brighter future.
