Mohammed Shami Slams India’s ‘Cheaters’ Propaganda

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has slammed former Pakistan cricketer Hasan Raza for his bizarre accusations that India manipulated DRS in the ICC World Cup 2023.

“I just saw a video of Hasan Raza claiming that Indian bowlers are given different balls and that we are manipulating DRS. I’m so disappointed with such remarks,” Shami said on Instagram.

“India is hosting the ICC World Cup, not a local tournament in India. We have nothing to gain from cheating, and our bowlers have always played fair and square.”

Shami also pointed out that Raza’s statements were rubbished by former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram.

“Akram has said that Raza should focus on his own game rather than making such baseless accusations. I completely agree with Akram. Raza should be ashamed of himself for making such comments.”

Shami’s remarks come after India sealed the top spot in the ICC World Cup 2023 standings with an impressive win over second-placed South Africa.

In the match played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, former India skipper Virat Kohli slammed his 49th ODI century to match Sachin Tendulkar’s record tally of hundreds. Kohli’s 101-run knock powered India to 326-5 in 50 overs.

Picking crucial two wickets for India at Kolkata, Shami dismissed Rassie van der Dussen (13) and Aiden Markram (9) before Ravindra Jadeja’s five-wicket haul skittled the Proteas for 83 in 27.1 overs.

“I’m proud to be part of this Indian team that plays fair and square. We will continue to do so and win the World Cup,” Shami concluded.
