Marco Bezzecchi Triumphs at MotoGP Bharat 2023, India Welcomes Thrilling Races

Italy’s Marco Bezzecchi secured a spectacular victory at the inaugural Indian Grand Prix of the MotoGP Bharat 2023 event. The race, held at the Buddh International Circuit in Noida, witnessed thrilling action as Bezzecchi dominated from pole position.

Spain’s Jorge Martin displayed remarkable skill, claiming second place, while France’s Fabio Quartararo crossed the finish line in third position. The race-winning trophy was presented by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Bezzecchi, representing the Mooney VR46 Racing team, completed the race with a time of 36 minutes, 59 seconds, and 15 microseconds. The gap between him and Martin, who raced for Prime Pramac Racing, stood at 8.649 seconds, while Quartararo, representing Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGp, followed closely with a gap of 8.855 seconds behind Bezzecchi.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the Indian fans, Bezzecchi said, “I really liked this place the day I landed. I like to celebrate with the fans, I would like to give my heart to the fans. In this part of the world, they are very loud, and I really like to hear the crowd. They enjoyed it, of course, and next year they will have even more fun. So, for me, it was fantastic.”

Marco Bezzecchi also praised the circuit, stating, “It’s a track that I liked the first time I rode on it. Overall it has been good for me. There was some hard braking, but also some fast parts and chicanes. Physically I felt better with the head, so change of direction was not a problem, like it was in Mizano. Sector three was really fantastic to ride.”

In a bid to ensure the riders’ well-being and tire durability, the race distance for the Indian Grand Prix was reduced to 21 laps from the original 34.

The event featured not only the MotoGP main race but also races from Moto2 and Moto3 categories, with a total of 41 teams participating throughout the weekend. The breakdown of teams in each category is as follows:

  • MotoGP: 11 teams
  • Moto2: 16 teams
  • Moto3: 14 teams
