Apple announces a delay in the release of the smarter, AI-driven Siri update, now expected in 2026, amid discussions regarding leadership challenges and enginee
At the 2024 Developer’s Conference, Apple gave us a glimpse of what the future Siri will look like. The Silicon Valley giant unveiled that, with Apple Intelligence and phased updates of iOS 18, it will make its voice assistant smarter, more AI-driven, and more personalized. In the past few months, Apple has released some AI features for Siri, but the smarter Siri is still a long way off.
Now, according to a new statement from Apple, this new update won't come before 2026. This disappointment to Apple users comes in the middle of leadership hurdles in the company as well as engineering mishaps. Moreover, Apple executives have reportedly been discontent with Apple's AI features and there's a big possibility that they might develop the new features from scratch.
In a statement to Daring Fireball, Apple spokesperson Jacqueline Roy revealed that Apple is running a bit late in releasing all the features it promised for Siri. “It’s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features, and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year,” she said.
