According to Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Vikar Rasool Wani, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will travel to Srinagar for a two-day “personal visit” and be accompanied by his mother Sonia Gandhi the next day.
The two senior officials won’t meet with any party leaders or participate in any political activities in Srinagar, according to Mr. Wani, during the “family tour.” The JKPCC president told PTI that Rahul has spent the last week in the Union Territory of Ladakh and will depart for Srinagar after speaking at a public gathering in Kargil on Friday morning.
On Saturday, he said, his mother Sonia Gandhi will join him.
Rahul travelled to Ladakh for the first time on August 2 after the province was granted UT status in August 2019 after being separated from Jammu and Kashmir. Along with becoming a Union Territory, the former state of Jammu and Kashmir had its special status under Article 370 repealed.
Before arriving in Kargil on Thursday, Rahul rode his motorbike to nearly all well-known locations over the course of the previous week, including the Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, Khardungla Top, Lamayuru, and Zanskar.
Rahul would arrive in Sonamarg, in the Ganderbal region of central Kashmir, from Kargil in the afternoon, according to a different Congress spokesperson. He will then go to Srinagar, where he will spend two nights on a houseboat and in a hotel.
