Kremlin: Putin Won’t Attend G20 in India in Person Amid ICC Arrest Warrant

Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided not to attend the upcoming G20 summit in India in September in person, as confirmed by the Kremlin. This decision comes as the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant against President Putin, accusing him of war crimes in Ukraine – allegations that the Kremlin vehemently denies. This warrant implies that there’s a potential risk of his arrest when he travels abroad.

Recently, President Putin participated in a virtual meeting of leaders from the BRICS group of emerging economies, which took place in South Africa. He opted for a video link attendance rather than being physically present, possibly to avoid the aforementioned ICC arrest warrant.

The situation sheds light on the complex political landscape surrounding President Putin and his global engagements, influenced by the ICC’s actions and the ongoing controversy over alleged war crimes in Ukraine.
