Jamia Millia Islamia Extends Application Deadline for UPSC Coaching

The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Residential Coaching Academy (RCA), Centre for Coaching and Career Planning, has extended the deadline for submitting an application form for free coaching (with a hostel facility) to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary-cum-Main) examination 2024.

The JMI has announced changes to the UPSC entrance exam dates, with the exam now scheduled for June 1 to June 29. The written test will be tentatively available on July 20, followed by online interviews from July 29 to August 12. The final result is expected to be released on August 14, and admissions will be completed by August 19.

Registration for waiting list candidates will begin on August 22, 2024, and classes will begin on August 30. The entrance test will be held in ten cities, with test centers located in Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Mumbai, Patna, Lucknow, Bengaluru, and Malappuram (Kerala). The written test will consist of General Studies (objective type only) and essay writing, with the option of English/Hindi/Urdu. The exam will last three hours, with negative markings for objective-type questions and one-third of the marks deducted for wrong answers.

The top 900 students’ essays will be evaluated based on merit obtained from Paper 1 (MCQ test marks), with the total interview/personality test marks being 40. Interviews will be held online only. If there is a tie, higher marks in the interview will be taken as the basis of selection. As many as 5% of seats will be reserved for physically handicapped candidates.

Only those who have completed their graduation and are eligible to apply for the Civil Services Examination 2025 can apply for the RCA-JMI Entrance Test. The free coaching at the RCA includes classes on General Studies, Ethics, CSAT, and selected optional papers, as well as mock interviews and support classes for qualifying candidates.

This year, 100 available seats are available at the RCA, with hostel accommodation compulsory for all admitted students. In case of shortage, hostel seats may be prioritized based on merit determined by the entrance test. Students must pay a monthly hostel maintenance charge of Rs 1000, which must be paid six months in advance.

Application forms must be filled online on the JMI website at www.jmicoe.in.
