According to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), an Israeli fighter plane launched an airstrike in southern Lebanon with the goal of “thwarting a threat.”
According to Xinhua, this is the first strike of this sort since Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a truce in Lebanon early Wednesday morning.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), “terrorist activities were identified in a facility used by Hezbollah to store mid-range rockets in southern Lebanon,” completing, “The IDF troops are deployed in southern Lebanon, operating to prevent any violation of the ceasefire.”
Earlier on Thursday, the IDF stated that it carried out a drone attack in southern Lebanon in the morning, referring to it as a warning shot.
The IDF said several “suspects,” some with vehicles, entered areas in southern Lebanon, violating the ceasefire agreement.
In response, the military fired a warning shot near a vehicle in the Markaba region, hoping to dissuade it while avoiding deaths. However, Lebanese military officials said that the attack injured at least two people.
Meanwhile, unidentified government and military sources in Lebanon claimed four more casualties following a series of Israeli assaults on the hamlet of Taybeh in southern Lebanon, accusing the Israeli army of violating the cease-fire.
They also said that similar attacks occurred in the towns of Al-Bissariye, Shebaa, and Khiam, as well as in the villages of Kfarchouba, Halta, Tayr Harfa, Mays al-Jabal, Kafr Kila, and Aitaroun.
Although a cautious calm has reigned over southern Lebanon’s border areas since a truce between Hezbollah and the Israeli army went into effect at 4:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday, the two sides have been swapping claims of ceasefire violations.
