In a tragic incident in Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar area, a 30-year-old woman named Neha died after being allegedly thrown off a fifth-floor terrace by a man identified as Taufiq. The accused, who had known the family for nearly three years and was considered like a brother, reportedly became obsessed after Neha rejected his repeated marriage proposals. Neha was rushed to GTB Hospital following the fall but succumbed to her injuries. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to apprehend Taufiq, who remains on the run.
According to Neha’s family, Taufiq entered their home disguised in a burqa on the day of the incident. When confronted, he allegedly pushed aside Neha’s father and confronted Neha on the terrace, where an argument ensued. It was then that Taufiq allegedly pushed Neha off the terrace. The family said that despite their longstanding bond, Taufiq had recently started pressuring Neha for marriage, which she firmly declined. Over the past month, Neha had been facing harassment and threats from him, and she had confided in her mother about the situation just days before the attack.
The community remains shocked by the brutal act, and Neha’s family demands swift justice and the strictest punishment for the accused. Authorities are intensifying efforts to locate Taufiq, who originally hails from Moradabad and worked in Delhi’s Mandoli area. The police have urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward to ensure prompt action.
