On Saturday, May 17, 2025, Sikkim Chief Minister P.S. Tamang expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who extended their wishes on the occasion of the state's 50th Statehood Day, celebrated on May 16. He described the Golden Jubilee as a symbol of “shared identity and collective pride” among the people of Sikkim.
The Chief Minister credited the people of Sikkim for making the event truly memorable through their love, support, and enthusiastic involvement.
“On behalf of the people of Sikkim, I sincerely thank all the respected leaders, friends, and well-wishers who sent their warm greetings and best wishes as we celebrated 50 glorious years of Statehood,” Mr. Tamang wrote in a Facebook post. “Your kind words and blessings added meaning to this historic milestone and touched us deeply,” he added.
The state marked its 50th Statehood Day on Friday (May 16, 2025), with celebrations beginning with a Tiranga rally led by the Chief Minister, starting from MG Marg and culminating at Paljor Stadium. Governor Om Prakash Mathur also joined in congratulating the citizens.
In a message addressed to the people of Sikkim, Mr. Tamang said, “My heartfelt thanks to you, my fellow Sikkimese. Your love, encouragement, and spirited participation made this occasion truly remarkable. You didn’t just observe history—you lived it, celebrated it, and made it unforgettable.”
He went on to say that Sikkim is more than just a geographical location—it represents “a feeling, a shared identity, and a deep sense of pride.”
“This celebration beautifully captured that spirit. Thank you for being an essential part of this incredible journey,” he concluded.
