IndiGo and Air India canceled multiple flights on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, to and from several domestic destinations near India’s border, citing “latest developments” in the region. IndiGo suspended operations to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot. Meanwhile, Air India canceled flights serving Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot. Both airlines stated that their teams are closely monitoring the evolving situation to ensure passenger safety.
These airports had only recently reopened for civilian use on Monday after being temporarily closed due to the military conflict between India and Pakistan. The cancellations come amid heightened security and precautionary measures in several parts of the border states.
On Monday evening, an IndiGo flight bound for Amritsar was forced to return to Delhi mid-air after blackout protocols were implemented in Amritsar. According to data from flight tracking platform Flightradar24, flight 6E2045, which had departed from the national capital, turned back after being airborne for some time.
With tensions easing after the May 10 ceasefire between India and Pakistan, authorities continue to assess conditions, and flight operations remain subject to sudden changes.
