A self proclaimed Christian pastor Bajinder Singh has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the 2018 rape case, by a local court in Mohali. The court of additional district and sessions judge Vikrant Kumar delivered the verdict. Last Friday, Kumar found Singh guilty under Sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntary causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and subsequently, Singh was sent to Patiala jail.
Bajinder Singh has been accused of luring a woman to his place on the pretext of helping her settle abroad. However, the woman said in her complaint that he raped her, recorder her and threatend to post the video online if she resisted.
He had been arrested at the Delhi airport in 2018 but was released on bail.
Singh has also been allegedly involved in a case of molesting and harassing another woman.
