Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow Mannat in Mumbai is under BMC inspection following a complaint of possible Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) violation during its ongoing
Authorities from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the forest department have inspected Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Bandra bungalow, Mannat, over an alleged violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms. The inspection was carried out after a complaint was filed suggesting possible unauthorised construction activity near the sea-facing property. Officials reportedly checked if any expansion or modification had been undertaken without obtaining the required environmental permissions.
Mannat, a 27,000-square-foot six-storey residence overlooking the Arabian Sea, is currently undergoing a major renovation expected to last two years. The upgrade includes a proposed expansion of the annexe, adding two additional floors. In light of the extensive work, Shah Rukh Khan, along with his wife Gauri Khan and their children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam, have temporarily relocated to a duplex apartment in Khar, located about 10 minutes from Mannat.
Originally built in 1914, Mannat holds the status of a heritage property and was purchased by the Bollywood star in 2001. According to BMC sources, a detailed report of the inspection is being compiled. If any breaches of the CRZ rules are confirmed, notices will be issued to the concerned parties. The CRZ regulations are government-mandated environmental safeguards that restrict unauthorised construction along coastal zones in order to protect natural ecosystems and prevent urban encroachment.
