A man named Zakir Hussain was murdered in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district by 3 people in what police say was a long-standing civil dispute between their families.

Tamil Nadu BJP Chief K Annamalai has taken up the issue and called it “deeply shocking” claiming that the dead was a retired police officer. However, according to Tirunelveli police, there’s no evidence yet showing if the dead was or wasn’t a cop.

“Law and order in Tamil Nadu has deteriorated to the point where a retired police officer has been threatened and murdered. The police do not listen to the complaints of the common people. The police are used only to take action against those who criticize the DMK government. How many more lives are we going to sacrifice because of this incompetent DMK government?” wrote Annamalai in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The law and order is going very badly in Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister Stakin is living in his dream in the name of the Dravidian model,” said BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan as well.
