India Takes Lead in Global Climate Action, Says Minister Jitendra Singh

Union Minister Jitendra Singh applauds India’s efforts to address global climate problems, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the global climate movement. During a meeting with a delegation from the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Singh emphasized India’s commitment to combating climate change, comparing it to the global struggle against the COVID pandemic.

Singh lauded India’s role in leading the battle against climate change, emphasizing the significance of addressing this issue that cuts through borders and artificial divisions.

Singh also praised India’s contributions to clean energy and energy transition technology. He encouraged the PHDCCI to commercialise India’s homegrown hydrogen fuel cell bus.

He stated that, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India is implementing the world’s largest Renewable Energy growth program, with the goal of tripling RE capacity by 2030. Singh emphasized India’s achievement of 40% renewable energy output ahead of the Paris Agreement objective.

The Minister spoke about India’s push towards clean energy alternatives, hydrogen energy developments, and the country’s bio-based economy roadmap. He emphasised India’s participation in collaborative efforts like Mission Innovation and different national mission programmes for clean energy innovation and sustainability. Singh also mentioned Prime Minister Modi’s commitments at COP26 and India’s objective of reaching net-zero emissions by 2070.

Singh finished by declaring that India’s scientific and technological advancements will shape the country’s path for the next 25 years, highlighting accomplishments in a variety of sectors such as healthcare, economy, infrastructure, sanitation, and drinking water distribution. The government’s emphasis on initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, road network expansion, sanitation coverage, and the Jal Jeevan Mission was cited as proof of India’s success and commitment to sustainable growth.
