IIT Bombay and Samsung Announce Strategic Collaboration

A five-year collaboration between Samsung Research and Development Institute, Noida (SRI-Noida) and the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Bombay (IIT Bombay) aims to advance innovation in digital health, artificial intelligence (AI), and other cutting-edge sectors. At a formal ceremony conducted at IIT Bombay on November 21, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed.

In order to spur innovation and address pressing issues in the real world, both organizations will collaborate on research initiatives and concentrate on cutting-edge technology.

Additionally, by giving IIT Bombay staff and students the chance to work directly with Samsung engineers, the alliance hopes to expose them to cutting-edge research methods and industrial practices that will aid in their future research endeavors.

Additionally, the agreement will support industry-aligned solutions, foster information exchange, and stimulate the publishing of research publications. This program demonstrates Samsung and IIT Bombay’s joint dedication to developing talent and advancing technical advancement.

The Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed by Professor Upendra V. Bhandarkar, Associate Dean of Research and Development at IIT Bombay, and Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director of SRI-Noida.

Professor Ranjith Padinhateeri, the head of IIT Bombay’s Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH), was among the faculty members who attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Bhandarkar said, “This partnership reflects our mutual commitment to innovation, knowledge exchange, and excellence. By collaborating with Samsung, we aim to create more opportunities for our students and faculty to engage with industry, advance research, and contribute to society.”

Samsung’s focus on emerging technologies and IIT Bombay’s expertise in digital health and AI ensure that this collaboration has the potential to lead to notable advancements in these fields.
