IGNOU Collaborates with Indian Armed Forces to Offer Skill-based Programmes for Agniveers

In order to provide skill-based bachelor degree programmes to Agniveers, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force have inked memorandums of understanding. Applications are now being accepted on the official website, ignou.ac.in.

Registration for these courses began on August 1.

The varsity is offering five courses as part of this collaboration:

BAAS: Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills)

BAASTM: Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills) Tourism Management

BAASMSME: Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills) MSME

BCOMAS: (Bachelor of Commerce (Applied Skills)

BSCAS: Bachelor of Science (Applied Skills)

These programmes consist of 120 credits, out of which courses worth 60 credits are offered by IGNOU, while the remaining 60 credits are offered as in-service skill education by the Armed Forces.

The Armed Forces’ skill courses have been approved by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), the skill education regulatory authority. These programmes are also in line with NEP 2020’s recommendation for the merging of higher education and skill education.

This collaboration was formed with the goal of assisting Agniveers in obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree while serving. The specialists hope to boost Agniveers’ post-service employability with the help of this.
