We all like that bold stroke of lipstick - it is like a bottle of confidence and the last touch to fulfill our look. But orthopedist Dr. Manan Vora recently revealed on Instagram that not every lipstick is safe. Some, especially inexpensive or without regulating brands, may be filled with chemicals that interfere with hormones and even periods can cause periods.

These hormone-disporting elements are not always written clearly. Drs advises us to read the label carefully. BPAs (Bisphenol A) and Parabens especially methyl and propyl variants - should be seen as a red flag. BPA can confuse the body's hormonal signals by mimicking oestrogen, while parabens disrupt the endocrine system.

So, what should you do? Dr. recommends steering clear of lipsticks that list “Methyl Paraben” or “Propyl Paraben,” and instead looking for labels such as “Paraben-Free” or “PPA-Free.” Certifications like “Ecocert,” “USDA Organic,” “Cosmos Natural,” or “PETA India Cruelty-Free” offer extra assurance.

It is also important to be aware of new researches, moving beyond the label check. Even though the level of contact with cosmetic chemicals is usually low, this effect can increase over time by continuously using or inadvertently swallowing them while licking lips inadvertently.

Remember, beauty should never come at the cost of health. A small step, such as being alert in the choice of your makeup, can protect your body and also retain your style.
