The Madhya Pradesh Food and Drug Administration (MPFDA) has confirmed that this sample had higher level of diethylene glycol (DEG), a toxic chemical which is dangerous even in very small quantity.

This new failure only adds more worry about the safety of that same batch of Coldrif, which was already under doubt after previous testing. Officials said the investigation is still going on, and more samples will be tested to find out the full scale of the issue.

The presence of DEG is very concerning because this chemical can damage kidney, and in serious cases even cause death. The fact that many bottles from same batch are failing shows some big mistake either during production or in quality checking.

People are being advised to stop using any Coldrif syrup at home until government confirms it’s safe. In the meantime, authorities may order the recall of the affected stock and take action against those who are found careless.

This case also points towards bigger problems in supply chain and quality control inside the pharma industry. If one wrong batch can reach the market with such harmful chemical, then people’s trust on medicine safety can go down very fast.

Health departments across the state have started warning hospitals, clinics and medical shops to keep the Coldrif stock aside and help in checking or seizing it. While everyone wait for more update, parents, patients and doctors are all worried about what went wrong and how it can be stopped in future.
