Dramatic Rescue Unfolds as Indian Navy Saves Crew from Hijacked Ship

In a heroic operation, the Indian Navy successfully rescued all 21 crew members, including 15 Indians, from a cargo ship that was hijacked near the coast of Somalia. A video shared by the Indian Navy captured the emotional moment when the rescued Indians expressed their gratitude, chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” to applaud the Navy for their safe rescue.

“Proud of Indian Navy,” exclaimed one sailor who was onboard the hijacked vessel, reflecting the collective sentiment of those rescued.

The dramatic rescue unfolded after the Navy received a distress call about the hijacking, prompting the deployment of a warship, maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters, and Predator MQ9B drones. The elite commandos, MARCOS, conducted a thorough sanitization of the ship and confirmed the absence of hijackers.

After the successful operation, the Navy stated that all 21 crew members of MV Lila Norfolk were safe. Ongoing investigations are being conducted on suspected vessels in the area.

Presently, the crew of MV Lila Norfolk is actively involved in restoring propulsion, power supply, and steering gear. Once these essential tasks are completed, the vessel will resume its journey to the intended destination under the escort of an Indian Naval Warship. The coordinated efforts of the Indian Navy have ensured the safety and well-being of the hijacked ship’s crew, marking a significant achievement in maritime security operations.
